Counselling & Psychotherapy
with adults who were
away at boarding school:

This particular form of childhood separation is still predominantly
regarded in terms of 'privileged education'. The distress inherent to saying
goodbye to loved ones and living in an institution for months at a time
at a young age remains largely unacknowledged.

Are relationships hard for you to sustain? Do you both long for and resist intimacy?

Are emotions difficult to express?

Do you dread goodbyes, rush or avoid them altogether?

Do you hoard food, or money?

Are you a workaholic?

Are you 'institutionalised' ie afraid of life beyond comfort-zone?

As an ex-boarder, you may judge yourself a failure for needing help, resist 'making a fuss'.
As a human being, you may discover telling another person what the matter is,
whatever it is, can make all the difference.

My work is informed by professional study, by personal experience
of boarding and by my own therapeutic process.
